“Was” ve “were”, İngilizce’de “to be” fiilinin geçmiş zaman halleridir. “Was” tekil isimlerle, “were” ise çoğul isimlerle veya “you” ile kullanılır. İşte örnek cümleler ve Türkçe karşılıkları:
