Şartlı Cümleler (Conditional Sentences)
Şartlı cümleler, olası durumlar ve sonuçlarını ifade eder. İngilizcede dört tür şartlı cümle vardır:
1. Zero Conditional (Sıfır Tip Şartlı Cümle)
– Kullanım: Genel gerçekleri veya her zaman geçerli olan sonuçları ifade eder.
– Yapı: If + simple present, simple present
– Örnek: If you heat ice, it melts. (Buz ısıtılırsa erir.)
2. First Conditional (Birinci Tip Şartlı Cümle)
– Kullanım: Gerçekleşmesi mümkün olan gelecek koşul ve sonuçlarını ifade eder.
– Yapı: If + simple present, will + base verb
– Örnek: If it rains tomorrow, we will cancel the picnic. (Yarın yağmur yağarsa, pikniği iptal edeceğiz.)
3. Second Conditional (İkinci Tip Şartlı Cümle)
– Kullanım: Gerçek dışı, hayali durumları ve sonuçlarını ifade eder.
– Yapı: If + past simple, would + base verb
– Örnek: If I were you, I would not do this. (Senin yerinde olsam bunu yapmazdım.)
4. Third Conditional (Üçüncü Tip Şartlı Cümle)
– Kullanım: Geçmişte gerçekleşmemiş durumlar ve bunların hayali sonuçlarını ifade eder.
– Yapı: If + past perfect, would have + past participle
– Örnek: If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam. (Daha çok çalışsaydım, sınavı geçerdim.)
