Effects of Sunlight Exposure on Vitamin D Levels in Adults

Department of Nutrition, University of Sampleton
Abstract:
This study aimed to investigate the relationship between sunlight exposure and Vitamin D levels in adults. Over a period of six months, 100 participants were monitored for their Vitamin D levels and their exposure to sunlight.
Introduction:
Vitamin D is crucial for bone health, and its primary source is sunlight. While dietary supplements exist, natural sunlight exposure remains a critical source of this vitamin for many.
Methods:
100 adults, aged 20-60, were selected. Participants were asked to log their daily sunlight exposure and were tested monthly for Vitamin D levels using the XYZ method.
Results:
There was a positive correlation between sunlight exposure and Vitamin D levels. Participants with over 30 minutes of daily sunlight exposure had 20% higher Vitamin D levels compared to those with less than 10 minutes.
Discussion:
These results reinforce the importance of sunlight in maintaining adequate Vitamin D levels. However, factors like sunscreen use, skin pigmentation, and geographical location can influence these results.
Conclusion:
Regular sunlight exposure plays a significant role in maintaining Vitamin D levels in adults. Further research is needed to determine the optimal exposure time and the effects of various mitigating factors.
