Pasif yapıda, cümlenin öznesi tarafından gerçekleştirilen eylem değil, eylemden etkilenen kişi veya nesne öne çıkarılır. İşte aktif cümlelerden pasif cümlelere örnekler:
Aktif: The manager wrote a report.
Pasif: A report was written by the manager.
Aktif: She baked a cake.
Pasif: A cake was baked by her.
Aktif: The teacher is explaining the lesson.
Pasif: The lesson is being explained by the teacher.
Aktif: They will clean the room.
Pasif: The room will be cleaned by them.
Aktif: Michael has drawn a picture.
Pasif: A picture has been drawn by Michael.
